Dr. Prasanna Ghimire is an Associate Professor of Radiology at Nepalgunj Medical College and Teaching Hospital, affiliated with Kathmandu University. With over two decades of academic and clinical practice, he has built one of the most interdisciplinary profiles in Nepalese medicine — spanning advanced diagnostic imaging, environmental and occupational health, and rural development.
A government scholarship recipient, Dr. Ghimire completed his MBBS at Nepalgunj Medical College before pursuing a fully-funded Masters in Radiodiagnosis and Nuclear Medicine at Wuhan University, China (2008–2011). He undertook specialist musculoskeletal radiology training at Samsung Medical Center, Seoul in 2016, where he also received an International Grant Award and Silver Medal at the 47th Korean Society of Ultrasound in Medicine Congress.
His research output spans 64+ peer-reviewed publications in international journals including PLOS ONE, World Journal of Gastroenterology, Radiology Case Reports, BMC Infectious Diseases, and Current Oncology. He serves as Editor of the Nepalese Journal of Radiology and reviewer for ten international journals. He is an active member of the Institutional Review Board at NGMC and the MBBS Subject Committee at Kathmandu University.
Beyond the hospital, Dr. Ghimire has devoted over 20 years to community health advisory roles with women's rehabilitation and rural development organizations. He is currently pursuing an MSc in Environmental and Occupational Health (Nepal Open University) and an MHCM at Imperial Business College, Nepal (affiliated to Pokhara University) — extending his commitment to health systems leadership.
